Social security contribution collection agencies
Social security contributions in Mali are currently administered by three semi-public bodies.
The Malian Social Security Fund (formerly CRM)
On behalf of civil servants and military personnel, members of parliament, former prime ministers and former presidents of the republic. It currently covers a single scheme: pensions.
Contribution rates are set at one-third for the employee and two-thirds for the employer (the State), currently standing at 4 per cent for employees and 8 per cent for the employer, in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 79-7/CMLN of 18 January 1979.
The National Social Security Institute (INPS)
On behalf of workers covered by the Labour Code and self-employed workers, currently administers three schemes:
- Pensions,
- Family benefits,
- Work-related accidents and occupational diseases.
Contributions are calculated on the basis of all remuneration, wages or earnings, including benefits in kind and various allowances, with the exception of those constituting reimbursement of expenses incurred by workers (Article 187).
Contributions to the pension scheme are made through a dual system of employer and employee contributions. The employee’s share represents 40 per cent of the rate for this scheme (Article 197).
The contribution rates applicable to employees governed by the Labour Code are:
