Family Benefits
Family benefits are a branch of social security that primarily covers the following benefits
- The first-time home purchase bonus;
- Maternity leave benefits;
- Child support for dependent children…
The program is funded by a contribution of 8% of gross wages paid by the employer.
The first-time settlement or first-marriage bonus is payable to any worker who marries for the first time and submits an application to the INPS.
Maternity leave results in the suspension of the employment contract for 14 weeks, including 6 weeks before childbirth for pregnancy and 8 weeks afterward for maternity leave.
A family allowance is paid to any employee registered with the INPS in the amount of:
- 3,500F per month per child;
- 4,000F per month per child with a disability.
These rates have been in effect since July 1, 2015.
A dependent child is defined as any child for whom the employee is responsible for custody and support, within the following age ranges:
- Aged 0–14, whether enrolled in school or not;
- Aged 14–21, whether enrolled in school or not;
- Disabled, aged 21 and older.
To qualify for family allowances, the documents listed below must be provided and must be accurate.

- Marriage Certificate
- Birth certificates for both spouses
